SNL This Week
You Can Do Anything: A great commentary on the mediocrity of content on the Internet. Not bad.
X27B Theater: An interesting sketch on the retrospective views that a future human society could have on our current culture… Pretty funny.
The Jay Pharoah Show: My favorite new featured cast member, doing a meta sketch… yes. It’s funny because he’s just playing into it so perfectly. But in reality, hopefully SNL realizes that he needs to become more than just amazing impressions.
His Tracy Morgan, however, is off.
Maybe this is the sketch that starts his next chapter at SNL. But seeing how SNL has just always been vacillating from meh to ugh, I don’t see this happening.
This sketch really is an indicator of how SNL has been in the past couple years. Just repeated tropes over and over, with an awkward ending because they’ve run out of the meh content.
Headz Up: Another interesting relevant sketch. I guess it’s social Darwinism, right?
