Travelling
So multi-month trip to Asia next year, but definitely going to be rolling around the US. Philly for cousin’s wedding, Seattle for PAX, and random places in between. Maybe I’ll go into Portland and see the client I’m working with. Maybe Boston again during the summer, so I can see how humid it is. Maybe… somewhere warmer like Guam. Alaska or Hawaii? Not out of the...

Delta: Rescheduling Flights
Much easier than expected. Heck, don’t even need to call them, it seems. And actually, calling to book costs $25 extra or something silly like that. Still… I hope to never have to reschedule flights again. $150 gone just like that.

Caller ID for Callback Numbers
Why hasn’t this shown up EVERYWHERE? So I don’t have to type in my phone number while I’m on hold. Well, I guess… automated phone systems should die in a fire altogether. Looks like my parents are coming into town. At the end of this month. What a great way to start March, with a visit from my parents and a ski trip later that week.

So much fun.
I’ve been having a blast in Vegas, especially in the past week. A high school friend is visiting, and I pretty much stacked the week with so many fun activities for him and all our friends whenever there wasn’t one that other people created for us. Gotta back into being in solitude again. It was great to recharge, but I’ve got much to think and share.

Pretty funny. Man, I love sketch shows. Comedies. Pretty interesting that Blamination did a similar reality kitchen show sketch. Hilarious.

Now It All Makes... A Little Bit More Sense
Read this. And if you also think that this is probably one of the more enlightening things you’ve read in a while, we should be friends.

8 More Gigs...
Should be enough for the upcoming two VMs I’m going to be needing shortly. Next upgrade? Moving from the i5-750 to i7-870/880? 4 more threads works for me. Probably better for the streaming I should be getting back into.

SPYW and Google
Maybe it’s the updates that are being set into motion, but all my google searches via the address bar in Chrome are failing, but instead are going to just google.com. And slowly, but surely, my desire to part ways with Google grows. Time for Duckduckgo, anyone?

The more Zeppelin I hear, the more I realize how much of an effect it has had on the world around me. Not only just straight up covers, but remixes and advertisement background music.

This is the only thing that is akin to compiling code, when I have to pull down the entire production db, then throw it onto my dev db to mess around. Now to go get some lunch.

New SSD, and some other things...
Oh geez, another nerdy shopping spree. Trying to get some parts together for an X200 that is coming soon, and a new 90GB SSD to stick into my main box to take the 50GB to the X200. Probably should also get a 2.5” enclosure for the HD I’m going to chuck out. This might be finally the machine that I will be taking all over the US. Huzzah.

Back to H.O.T.
Yeap. For most, this would be elementary, middle school music. Me? College. It’s like Candy for the ears. Which is what I’m listening to right now.

Feels Good To Be Alive
Right? Right? Ugh. Sometimes my own optimism just makes me so digustingly… realistically pessimistic. Sometimes, lying to yourself is the only way to get through it. And then after you do, you wonder why you had to lie to yourself in the first place. Oh, capricious heart My desires dart Every day restart ‘Til I fall apart Quick, to the piano!

Ice Cream Sandwich
From what I’m reading and seeing, I think it finally might be time for me to pick one up for myself. Hooray for OpenGL ES, and iPhone-level responsiveness. I regret not seeing it at CES, but… I wonder if ASUS Transformer Prime is going to be my next gadget purchase. I’ve been looking for a previous gen Lenovo X laptop, but they seem to be more expensive than I would like. I...

Tank Girl
I guess I didn’t know this existed until I happened upon it on a friend’s Facebook wall. Another one of those PAW movies that I tend to love so much. I may end up reading the comics. Highly stylized and way way over the top, with gaping plot holes to drive a tank through. Still, definitely worth a watch for me. Reminds me of a mixture of Sucker Punch and Aeon Flux. Okay, this...

– Jet, Cowboy Bebop, Session XX. First time I’ve seen this was two days ago. I can’t find the proper Goethe quote, but it’s good enough. I guess I want to respect my friends enough to keep doing something that they don’t expect. To challenge myself to be different, to be...

Capital One
I like so many things about Capital One. Service is great. I just redeemed a reward balance of $3.03. Just fantastic. Except for the fact that this is the only credit card company I use that doesn’t have an autopay option… online anyway. Called them just now, and it looks like they need the voided check and blah blah blah 4-6 weeks blah blah blah. What is this, the 90s?

Korean, Japanese, Chinese
KJC. And the similarities and the differences between the three. Why is this such a fascinating topic for me? As with many of my obsessions, it’s probably because it’s so different from what I’m used to experiencing. I probably wouldn’t be this interested if I was brought up in Korea. Maybe if I did that, I’d be much more interested in the European languages. My...

Ice Skating
Unless the Earth enters into another Ice Age or ice is in abundant supply wherever I end up, I’m going to be sticking to my rollerblades. Ice skating is just not as friendly to my legs. Maybe it’s because I’ve been using the Elliptical so much that my ankles just don’t have the stabilizers needed… or maybe the skates are not as sharp as they should be. Don’t...

Mediocrity. Ugh.
It’s so easy setting these goals when one is a beginner. It’s when you become intermediate that you realize what you’ve done. The questions is, do you quit now, or do you keep struggling through the mediocrity. These crazy goals I need to meet by the end of the month. Must struggle through these scales.

SNL This Week
You Can Do Anything: A great commentary on the mediocrity of content on the Internet. Not bad. X27B Theater: An interesting sketch on the retrospective views that a future human society could have on our current culture… Pretty funny. Mandatory Walks
Going to the gym daily is fine, but I still need to see the sun from time to time. I don’t know how to do this other than just force myself to go on a 30 minute walk every day. I guess this is how I begin to think in solitude, away from the computer, away from the world. Oh, duh. Blade around a bit. I guess I have to find my go-to park, where they have actual grass…

Wine
My interest in the subject of wine may or may not be the first interest to wane in 2012. I know, just in time for a wine tasting, right? Scattershot to see what’s out there, then refocus on what returns to you as interesting, thought-provoking, or just plain fun. Seriously, I feel like I have an inclination for this foodie business, but I really do cook and eat purely for subsistence...

Not zero, because I don’t need to subscribe to some foofy system. For a while, it was just all over the place with Amazon purchases and UPS tracking information. I think it’s finally died down a bit. Lenovo X200
This will be my go to throwaway computer. I’m shooing for $200. Maybe I can find a X200s, with the 1440x900 res with LED backlight… Looks like it’s not on eBay, though. After doing the research, looks like X200 is one generation older than the current. Cheaper, and hopefully even easier to work with Linux. Never ever needed an optical drive. Lack of trackpad doesn’t...

LA
Not having driven while I lived here all those years ago, I realize now how bad it would be for me to get around here. I had the same thought with SF, but at least they have a nice transit system. But still, transportation is pretty important to a city. They’re the lifelines, really. At least With Vegas the roads seem slightly planned out due to it being in the middle of nowhere. Wow,...

This Trend Scares Me.
Might as well just keep losing weight to fight MMA at 135lbs. Sure. I will eat that carton of ice cream today, my cheat day. And see how my weight is tomorrow, because this is getting seriously scary. Where is it all going? I haven’t gone to the gym in two days, nor will I go today to ease my left ankle. Thankfully, nothing is torn nor a surgery is required on my left arm. Just taking...

Everything to Plaxo, Nuke everything else
Always ALWAYS have a canonical base to start off of. And then start syncing from there. This makes data management easy. Of course, there are times when this is not doable, but I don’t want to deal with that case ever again.

I've had it with Google Contacts
It’s never worked 100%, and whenever it fails 1% of the time, that’s when the aggravations happen. I don’t trust Plaxo with my stuff, nor do I want to put it all into Apple’s iCloud. So now what? Hmm. You know what, I take it back. I’m just going to roll with Plaxo. Best solution is what solves the problem today, not what might solve it better later.
